Andre Johnson

Andre Johnson closing the gap?

Who are the Dolphins looking at?

And what about the Jaguars?

Information flowing freely from Florida today.

Miami junior receiver Andre Johnson is smiling this week, especially after the Michigan State workout. Several scouts told Johnson he outperformed Charles Rogers in comparative Pro-days as he ran faster and caught the ball better. Besides running slower Rogers dropped four passes during his workout. Even with that the big Hurricane pass catcher realizes he'll be selected after Rogers.

Two teams covet Andre Johnson, the Arizona Cardinals and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Johnson is excited about potentially staying in the state with Jacksonville.

Speaking of the Jaguars, they are happy with the surge to the forefront by the likes of Kyle Boller and DeWayne Robertson. They do not want to draft either prospect but feel the end result could be a player slipping through the cracks; someone they covet like Terrence Newman. While we do not necessarily agree Newamn will slip the Jags would consider making a move up should the K-State corner begin to slide.

Further south the Dolphins are targeting three positions, tackle (preferably a blind side protector) receiver and outside linebacker.

The player they hope falls to their initial pick, late in round two, is Georgia blocker Jon Stinchcomb, whom they feel will be an immediate starter. That is unlikely so plan "B" could be Kelley Washington, who they think is worth the risk.

When the name of Chaun Thompson was brought out as a possible selection the point was made that Miami does not have a history of taking small school players early in the draft.
