The Boston Globe is reporting that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will undergo surgery Thursday or next week to repair a lingering stress fracture in his right foot. He's out of the Pro Bowl.

Quarterback Tom Brady had a big season with a bad finish. Now, there's more he's got to deal with.

According to the Boston Globe, the New England Patriots QB is expected to undergo surgery to repair a lingering stress fracture in his right foot. The Globe said Brady would have the surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital on Thursday, or Monday at the latest.

George Theodore, the Patriots' team physical, will perform the operation, which might involved the insertion of a screw.

Brady is expected to win the league's MVP Award after leading the Pats to a 14-2 record and throwing for 36 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He set an NFL record for consecutive passes without an interception (339).

The Patriots were eliminated from the AFC playoffs Sunday by the New York Jets, 28-21. Brady threw two TD passes but also had one intercepted.

The Globe said Brady's injury may stem from a preexisting injury that has required him to wear a walking boot in the past. He was named a starter in the Jan. 30 Pro Bowl but has been replaced by his former backup, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel.
