"To answer your question guys im disappointed by a story that was written by a Buffalo writer regarding a routine stop at the Canadian border a few weeks ago," Merriman wrote on his Twitter account. "To clarify, there was Absolutely NO steroids found in my vehicle & there were NO charges against me. I've received a great welcome by the community and fans. I've worked my butt off to have a great season."
The report stated that Merriman, who has been suspended once by the NFL for a violation of the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, was detained by U.S. Customs officials because steroids were allegedly discovered with him. However, Merriman wasn't arrested, per the report.
Meanwhile, Merriman told the Buffalo News that there was no issue.
"No problem," Merriman said. "I came across as I normally do. I go there to get some massage therapy work done. They just questioned me about some bags and stuff I had. I was stopped and that was it. I was coming to camp. I had suitcases and stuff like that. They just wanted to go through all my stuff.BR>
Merriman denied having anything confiscated.
And there was no information to release regarding Merriman or any other players, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.
"We have not been presented with any matter for prosecution involving Shawne Merriman or anyone else on the Buffalo Bills," said James P. Kennedy, first assistant in the U.S. Attorney's office in Buffalo
Moran wrote on his Twitter account that he stands by his story.
"I stand by what I wrote----And will to my grave," Moran wrote. "Unfollow, hate- do what you gotta do. But I know what happened, period end of story.
"I'd never write something of such a derogatory nature about a player on a team I support without strong basis, KNOWING the consequence.
