New Orleans Saints veteran nose guard Aubrayo Franklin sprained his medial collateral ligament in his right knee, Saints coach Sean Payton announced. That's not great news, but it's better than the alternative since Franklin should be able to return soon.

A former Baltimore Ravens fifth-round draft pick who plays with sound leverage, Franklin played for the 49ers for the past four seasons.

In eight NFL seasons, Franklin has posted 187 tackles, four sacks, three forced fumble and an interception.
