Chiefs sign TE Anthony Bech

The Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran blocking tight end Anthony Becht to a one-year contract and placed linebacker Brandon Siler on injured reserve. Siler tore his Achilles tendon.

Becht is a 6-foot-6, 270-pounder who has appeared in 158 games with 127 starts with the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals.

He has caught 185 passes for 1,511 yards (8.2 avg.) with 21 touchdowns. He has also played in nine postseason contests (eight starts), recording 11 receptions for 84 yards (7.6 avg.) with a touchdown. He originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick (27th overall) of the Jets in 2000 out of West Virginia.

Siler (6-2, 239) has played in 58 regular season games (12 starts) with the San Diego Chargers, recording 124 tackles (89 solo) and three sacks.

He also has two interceptions, four passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 56 special teams tackles.

Siler is a former Chargers seventh-round draft pick from the University of Florida.
