Cleveland Browns veteran offensive guard Eric Steinbach is being placed on injured reserve after having a disc problem in his back repaired today with a surgical procedure.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur announced today that the surgery was successful, and that Steinbach was out for the season.

The Browns could promote rookie guard Jason Pinkston, a former Pitt lineman.

They also claimed former Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Oniel Cousins off waivers Monday, taking on his $1.2 million one-year restricted tender.
