Cedric Benson to serve a week in jail

Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson will serve roughly a week in jail during the Bengals' bye. According to the Austin American-Statesman, Benson pleaded no contest for a misdemeanor assault case stemming from a 2010 incident at a Texas bar and was sentenced to 20 days in jail.

Benson will turn himself in during the Bengals' bye week on Oct. 17. If he gets time off for good behavior, he would just do a week in jail.

Benson also took care of a separate case, an alleged assault on his former roommate. He received a deferred prosecution and no jail time.

Benson got 30 hours of community service and was ordered to pay the victim roughly $5,000. Benson allegedly caused severe facial injuries to his former roommate.
