Days before the first game of the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars have cut starting quarterback David Garrard. According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, Garrard is out and Luke McCown will be installed as the starter.
And rookie first-round draft pick Blaine Gabbert is the backup. Garrard had a high salary this year of roughly $8 million.
Now, he's out as the starter after years of middling play. Clearly, the Gabbert era will begin sooner rather than later after McCown operates as a bridge player to his eventual elevation.
