Chargers go with Nick Novak as new kicker

Nick Novak is the San Diego Chargers' new kicker, replacing Nate Kaeding with him out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. The Chargers tried out Novak today along with Dave Rayner and Jeff Reed. The Chargers wanted to sign him last year, but were prevented from doing so by the UFL.

The former University of Maryland standout has also kicked for the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He is 19-for-30 on field goal attempts over his entire career and is a 32-for-32 on extra points. For more coverage of the Chargers go to SD Bolt Report at Follow me on Twitter: @RavensInsider
