Bills place Easley on IR

The Buffalo Bills placed wide receiver Marcus Easley on injured reserve with an undisclosed illness that sidelined him for the season-opener, ending his season. They replaced him on the roster with former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Ruvell Martin. Martin was cut by the Bills on Sept. 6.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Saginaw Valley State product has registered 65 catches for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns in 53 games with nine starts since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2004.

Meanwhile, the Bills signed former New England Patriots second-round cornerback Terrence Wheatley to the practice squad. Wheatley appeared in 11 games with the Patriots before being released on Nov. 6, 2010 and signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bills cut quarterback Levi Brown from the practice squad. For more coverage of the NFL go to profootball.scout.com.
