Cincinnati Bengals star running back Cedric Benson is reportedly facing a pending three-game suspension from the NFL, a punishment he plans to appeal Tuesday. Benson served five days in jail in Texans stemming from his misdemeanor assault cas

He was initially sentenced to 20 days, but was given credit for time served and volunteer duty while incarcerated.

Slated to play this weekend, Benson would be suspended for subsequent games against the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts should his appeal be unsuccessful.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Benson has no knowledge of a pending suspension. For more coverage of the NFL go to profootball.scout.com. Follow me on Twitter: @RavensInsider
