Ravens Haloti Ngata fined

Although he wasn't penalized during the game, Baltimore Ravens All-Pro defensive tackle Haloti Ngata has been fined $15,000 by the league office for roughing the passer for his hit on New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez on Sunday night.

"Specifically, on a pass play, he lowered his head and struck the opposing quarterback," AFC spokesman Corry Rush wrote in an e-mail.

Ngata slammed into Sanchez with a hit from behind during the second quarter of the Ravens' 34-17 win over the Jets, but no penalty was assessed during the game.

The forced fumble was recovered by outside linebacker Jarret Johnson and returned 26 yards for a touchdown.
