Vikings suspended Chris Cook without pay

The Minnesota Vikings have suspended troubled cornerback Chris Cook indefinitely without pay in the wake of him being charged with felony domestic assault. Cook allegedly choked his girlfriend and slammed her into a wall after he discovered that she spoke with a former boyfriend. Cook is out on $40,000 bail and is due in court for a hearing Wednesday.

The Vikings issued a statement tonight referencing "very disturbing and disappointing" allegations, adding that the former second-round draft pick is "suspended without pay from the team while we continue to gather information regarding the situation."

He missed the Vikings' game against the Green Bay Packers, remaining in jail over the weekend.

"There’s always two sides to a story!!” Cook wrote on his Twitter account. “My apologies to the fans! Vikings ownership, coaching staff, my teammates and friends and family!!”

Cook was arrested in March for brandishing a gun during an argument, but was acquitted of the charge.
