The New England Patriots finally gave up on former All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth today, cutting him after six games played and only three tackles registered. Haynesworth is a former Tennessee Titans first-round draft pick who got into a sideline argument with defensive line coach Pepper Johnson days ago.

And now the Patriots have parted ways with the veteran defensive lineman.

Acquired in a trade from the Washington Redskins this preseason, Haynesworth was signed by Washington to a seven-year, $100 million contract two years ago.

However, he quickly fell out of favor with the Redskins. He recorded only 53 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks in two seasons.
