New York Jets safety Jim Leonhard is out for the season due to a torn paterllar tendon in his right knee and will be placed on injured reserve.
The injury will require surgery.
The Jets will start Brodney Pool in his place and the team will look to acquire depth.
Jets coach Rex Ryan made the announcement today.
Leonhard got hurt on an interception against the Kansas City Chiefs.
