Lions work out Vernon Gholston

The Detroit Lion worked out former New York Jets first-round bust Vernon Gholston, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. The former Ohio State star tried out for the Houston Texans earlier this season. Gholston didn't succeed with the Jets or during a brief stint with the Chicago Bears.

He has been unproductive ever since entering the league as the sixth overall pick of the draft.

The Lions also cut defensive lineman Jovan Haye.

They worked out former Miami Dolphins and Texans linebacker Charlie Anderson and former Bears and Saints defensive end Alex Brown.
