Vikings: Peterson surgery 'successful'

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson underwent successful surgery to repair his torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee, according to a statement released by the team. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier made the announcement that Dr. James Andrews, the renowned orthopedic surgeon, passed on word that the procedure went well.

Peterson rushed for 970 yards and a dozen touchdowns this season before shredding his knee against the Washington Redskins. "We've received word that Adrian underwent successful knee surgery with Dr. James Andrews and is now resting comfortably," Frazier said. "Adrian is in our thoughts, we wish him a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him when he returns to Minnesota."
