Raiders fire Hue Jackson

Instead of going forward with Hue Jackson as head coach, new Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie fired Jackson today. The outspoken coach went 8-8 this season. The Raiders have scheduled a press conference for this afternoon to introduce McKenzie as their new general manager.

Jackson told CSN Bay Area that McKenzie "is going to gut this place. He wants to bring in his own guys. No job is safe right now."

Despite Jackson and McKenzie sharing an agent in Kennard McGuire, they won't be working together.

Jackson traded for quarterback Carson Palmer and assumed a lot of personnel responsibilities once owner Al Davis passed away.

He criticized defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnehan, who was fired as well as secondary coach Rod Woodson, during a memorable press conference where he got emotional after the Raiders lost their final game of the season.

The Raiders haven't made the playoffs for nine years.

The Raiders lost four of their final five games following a 7-4 start.
