The Pittsburgh Steelers signed former Ohio State quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith to a reserve/future deal. Smith has previously played for the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL and the Omaha Nighthawks in the United Football League last season.

Meanwhile, the Steelers also signed former Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Walter McFadden.

The Steelers also signed four wide receivers, including Tyler Beiler (San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars), David Gilreath (Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills), Derrick Williams (Detroit Lions) and Jimmy Young (Chicago Bears).
