The Philadelphia Eagles' defense isn't changing much. Juan Castillo, as expected, is staying on as defensive coordinator. However, the Eagles did hire former Miami Dolphins interim coach and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as secondary coach.

"Bottom line, we have to get better," Reid acknowledged today. "I'm very optimistic going forward."

Reid indicated that he did talk with Steve Spagnuolo about rejoining the staff to become defensive coordinator. However, Spagnuolo becamse the New Orleans Saints' defensive coordinator after being fired by the St. Louis Rams.

Why is Castillo back?

"I saw us get better," Reid said. "We had some moving parts on the defensive side, I understood that."
