The Kansas City Chiefs are finalizing a deal with Brian Daboll to hire him as their new offensive coordinator. Daboll beat out Chiefs quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn and foremr Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Al Saunders. Daboll wasn't retained as Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator after the team finished 22nd in total offense last season.

An announcement is likely for early next week for Daboll to formally replace retiring offensive coordinator Bill Muir.

Daboll has ties to Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli from his time as the New England Patriots' receivers coach.

Daboll was previously the Cleveland Browns' offensive coordinator where they never ranked in the top half of the league in offense during his tenure.
