Eagles expected to hold onto DeSean Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles have long been expected to designate wide receiver DeSean Jackson as their franchise player despite his drop in production last season. Signing him to a long-term deal hasn't been ruled out, but the franchise tag is regarded as more likely to happen. Jackson caught 58 passes for 916 yards and four touchdowns last season as the Eagles had a rough season

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made no declarations to reporters other than wanting to have Jackson on the team going forward.

“You want to always keep your really good players under contract," Roseman said of Jackson. "That’s the way it’s always been. It’s been draft and lets extend them and re-sign them. It just doesn’t always happen that that’s how it works.

"We feel fortunate to have a player of DeSean Jackson’s magnitude on our football team and I think the future is bright for DeSean Jackson."
