Brandon Spikes has surgery

New England Patriots starting inside linebacker Brandon Spikes announced that he underwent surgery Tuesday. Spikes didn't indicate the nature of the procedure, but it's believed to be a minor repair after suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament during the regular season.

Spikes is a pivotal figure in the Patriots' defense, operating as a hard-hitting run-stuffer.

“Surgery this am!!!!" Spikes wrote on his Twitter account. "Y’all pray 4 me please."
