The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to cut veteran defensive end Aaron Smith, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. Smith, 35, was due $2.1 million next season. He was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury.

Smith is a gritty veteran 3-4 anchor, but was placed on injured reserve two seasons ago.

During the past three seasons, Smith has been limited to a total of 15 games.
