Phil Dawson signs $3.8 million franchise tend

Cleveland Browns kicker Phil Dawson has signed his $3.81 million franchise tender,a raise of 20 percent after making $3.175 million last season. The Browns have until July 16 to work out a long-term deal for Dawson. Otherwise, he'll play the whole year under the tag.

Dawson connected on 24 of 29 field goals last season, including seven field goals from 50 yards and beyond, and converted all 20 of his extra points to score 92 points.

His success from 50 yards and above tied him for first in the league.

Dawson has converted on 276 of 332 career field goal attempts for an 83.1 percent success mark, which ranks 10th all-time in NFL history.
