Kevin Smith rejoins Lions

Veteran running back Kevin Smith has rejoined the Detroit Lions after agreeing to a one-year contract. Smith made the announcement via his Twitter account. Smith, 25, is a 6-foot-1, 217-pounder who rushed for 356 yards and four touchdowns on 72 carries in just seven games and four starts.

In four NFL seasons with the Lions, the former Central Florida standout has rushed for 2,212 yards and 16 touchdowns.

There are questions surrounding the health of Jahvid Best due to chronic concussions. Plus, running back Mikel LeShoure missed his rookie season with a torn Achilles' tendon.

agreement on a one-year deal Tuesday. So, Smith could provide a reliable alternative to Best and LeShoure.
