Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker Anthony Spencer has signed his $8.8 million franchise tender. That means that Spencer is required to attend mandatory team activities this offseason, including at least one minicamp. Spencer, 28, recorded 88 tackles, six sacks and four forced fumbles last season.

If he's not signed to a long-term deal by July 16, the NFL deadline for franchise players, then he'll play the entire season under the tag.

Two seasons ago, Spencer had 63 tackles, five sacks and two forced fumbles as he started every game.

A former first-round draft pick from Purdue, Spencer has registered 266 career tackles and 21 1/2 sacks in five NFL seasons with one inteception and 10 forced fumbles.

As a senior at Purdue, Spencer had 26 1/2 tackles for losses with 10 1/2 sacks, five forced fumbles, six pass deflections and one blocked kick.
