Bengals guard Jacob Bell retires

Veteran offensive guard Jacob Bell has decided to retire after signing a one-year contract earlier this spring with the Cincinnati Bengals, and the team has placed him on the reserve/retired list. The Bengals drafted Wisconsin offensive guard Kevin Zeitler in the first round.

Bell, 31, is a 6-foot-5, 304-pounder who started a dozen games last season for the St. Louis Rams.

The former Miami (Ohio) standout played for the Rams for the past four years.

Bell began his career with the Tennessee Titans, playing there until 2008 when he signed with the Rams.

He has started 100 of 109 career games.
