Redskins sign Kirk Cousins to four-year deal

The Washington Redskins have signed fourth-round quarterback Kirk Cousins. The deal is worth roughly $2.57 million. That includes base salaries of $390,000, $480,000, $570,000 and $660,000. The former Michigan State standout passed for 9,131 career yards with a school-record 66 touchdown passes and a 146.08 quarterback rating.

Cousins was the second player in school history to be named a team captain as a sophomore.

Cousins is competing to back up first-round quarterback Robert Griffin III.
