Saints ink Drew Brees to $100 million deal

The New Orleans Saints finally created some good news following a rocky offseason where Bountgate dominated the NFL news cycle. The Saints have hammered out a five-year, $100 million contract with franchise quarterback Drew Brees. "Deal is Done!" Brees wrote on his Twitter account. "Love you, Who Dat Nation. See you soon!"

The deal reportedly includes $40 million in the first year and a total of $60 million guaranteed in the first three years.

The deal allows the Saints to not have to pay Brees a $16.4 million one-year franchise tender.

The Saints beat a Monday afternoon NFL deadline to strike deals with franchise players.

Last season, Brees passed for 5,476 yards to set an NFL record for passing yards in a single season.
