The Kansas City Chiefs have signed former Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins outside linebacker-tight end Edgar Jones today, according to his agent, Marc Lillibridge. Jones is a former defensive end from Southeast Missouri State who has recorded 22 career tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.

The 6-foot-3, 263-pounder was an Associated Press All-American selection. Jones has caught two passes for 33 yards.

Jones played for the Ravens from 2007 to 2001 after making the team as un undrafted free agent. He was with the Redskins last season.

The Chiefs placed defensive back Kyle McCarthy on injured reserve. He joined the Chiefs in February after spending the past two seasons with the Denver Broncos.
