Robert Gallery retires

Veteran New England Patriots offensive lineman Robert Gallery retired from the NFL today, according to his agent, Rick Smith. "A great client and friend Robert Gallery retired today," Smith wrote on his official Twitter account. "His body said it was time. He is the consummate pro." Gallery had signed a one-year contract with the Patriot

Gallery was cut by the Seattle Seahawks after starting a dozen games last season. He has started 103 career games.

Gallery was drafted second overall by the Oakland Raiders in 2004 and eventually emerged as a well-respected offensive guard after not making the grade as a left offensive tackle.

Gallery played collegiately at Iowa.
