The Jacksonville Jaguars have released wide receiver Lee Evans after signing him to a one-year contract in April.
The former Buffalo Bills first-round draft pick from Wisconsin was entering his ninth NFL season.
Evans, 31, has caught 381 career passes for 6,008 yards and 43 touchdowns
|
Two seasons ago, Evans caught 37 passes for 578 yards and four touchdowns.
Evans caught 63 passes for 1,017 yards and three touchdowns four seasons ago.
He caught a career-high 82 passes for 1,292 yards and eight touchdowns in 2006.
Evans played for the Baltimore Ravens last season, but his production was limited due to a lingering ankle injury.
Evans dropped a potential game-winning touchdown pass in the AFC championship game against the New England Patriots. Before being released, Evans was due a $3.275 million base salary and carried a $5.607 million salary-cap figure. The Ravens would have had to pay him a $1 million roster bonus on March 18.
He caught only four passes for 74 yards and no touchdowns during the regular season after being acquired via a trade from the Bills in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.
