Steelers activate Max Starks

The Pittsburgh Steelers have activated veteran offensive tackle Max Starks from the physically unable to perform list. Starks is coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in a playoff game against the Denver Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Steelers signed rookie running back Jason Ford who was previously with the Houston Texans.

The Steelers placed running back John Clay on the waived-injured list.

Starks is a 6-foot-8, 345-pounder who has been with the Steelers for eight seasons.

Starks was drafted in the third round in 2004.

Starks has started 80 career games, a dozen last season. Starks has started eight career playoff games, including the Steelers' Super Bowl XLIII win over the Arizona Cardinals.
