The New England Patriots cut veteran defensive lineman Jonathan Fanene with a failure to disclose physical condition designation. Fanene was paid a $3.85 million signing bonus. Fanene has been dealing with knee problems and may need to undergo minor surgery.r Larry Lumpkin.

Fanene was cut under the same designation where the Indianapolis Colts released rookie linebacker Larry Lumpkin. This is a new designation for the NFL this year. The Patriots also cut kicker Chris Koepplin and offensive tackle Kyle Hill.
