The New York Giants continue to make salary cap driven cuts, as they have released defensive tackle Chris Canty. Canty was signed in 2009 and helped the Giants win the 2011 Super Bowl title. He missed the first six games of the regular season after undergoing knee surgery during this past offseason.

“Chris Canty is a high-character, highly intelligent young man,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said, via the team's website. “He distinguished himself a year ago down the stretch for a number of reasons. One, the quality of his play, and two, is the toughness he displayed, which was a great statement about the quality of the individual.”

Canty joins running back Ahmad Bradshaw and linebacker Michael Boley as those that have been released in the past two days.
