Seahawks Draft Preview

Pete Carroll

The Seahawks were active this off-season but still have big needs going into the NFL Draft.

Seattle Seahawks
2014 draft picks:
1st round (32), 2(64), 4(132), 5(146), 5(172), 6(208), 7(247)

The Seahawks are Super Bowl champs. Seattle did it with the game's best defense. They were stifling, showing an abundance of athleticism up front on the defensive line and a wonderful secondary. The Seahawks were brilliant in doing the unthinkable – shutting down Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on the game's biggest stage and in the biggest game, capturing the franchise's first championship.

Now lets see how of Seattle does with the bulls eye on their chest in pro football's toughest division, the NFC West. Pete Carroll also lost a handful of players from free agency, including their leading wide receiver (Golden Tate) and some depth on defense.

But Seattle has shown in how they built their roster that they certainly know what they are doing when it comes to the draft. The Seahawks have a single pick in every round in next week's NFL Draft.

Team Needs

1. Wide Receiver
The Seahawks did lose Tate to Detroit but did re-sign Sidney Rice. Remember, they still have Percy Harvin and hopefully he can get healthy and stay healthy for Seattle. He showed glimpses against the Broncos of what a big play guy he can be. Having said that, look for Seattle to address this area of their team via the draft. They will certainly be in good position in rounds one or two to pick up a good wide receiver.

2. Offensive Line
The Seahawks will be looking at two areas of this unit – right tackle and left guard. Cyrus Kouandijo could be an option at tackle while Seattle could be the team that takes the first offensive guard off the board with their first pick.

3. Defensive Line
Gone because of free agency are defensive linemen Chris Clemson, Red Bryant and Clinton McDonald. You know Carroll and company will want to replace that depth they lost.
