Tennessee's offensive line is full of former high school All-Americans, yet the steadiest performer…
Scouting Report: Scott Wells
Full Name: Scott Wells School: Tennessee Ht: 6-1 Wt: 295 40: 5.24 Number: 64 Bio: 2002: Started every game at center for a second consecutive year. 2001: Started every game, moving from center because of other injuries on the offensive line. 2000: Third-team Freshman All-America after starting 10 of 11 games. The Good: Explosive blocker with a great feel for the position. Tremendously quick off the snap which gives him the upper hand on opponents, bends his knees and plays with good pad level. Immediately gets his hands into defenders, works them hard and stays with the action. Effectively uses both body positioning and blocking angles. Patient, effectively quarterbacks the line and offers good football intellect. The Bad: Not a big bulky blocker with a lot of strength at the point. Does not open up the middle for the running game and has difficulty in one-on-one blocking situations. The Skinny: The type of prospect coaches want on the roster, Wells is the perfect back-up for any of the three interior blocking positions.
