Another Tide defender on the move

Make that three in two weeks as Alabama juniors are leaving Tuscaloosa at an alarming rate. The latest is defensive tackle Ahmad Childress, who earlier made an inquiry to the NFL Advisory Committee about his draft status.

Ahmad Childress, a 6-7", 345-pound junior who spent two years at Garden City Community College finished the season with 24 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and a single sack. His career totals at Alabama were 48 tackles, one sack, six tackles for loss with an interception. Minor injuries played a part in keeping him on the sidelines for much of his Tide career.

Childress is the third Alabama junior in less than two weeks to announce their eligibility for next April's draft. Last week defensive end Antwan Odom and offensive guard Justin Smiley announced plans to turn pro.

TFY Analysis: While big-bodied, impacting defensive tackles are a priority in the draft, Childress made a mistake. He has flashed brilliance but its' been fleeting and he's much more potential than production. He will need some huge pre-draft workouts to move into the first day. Recommended Stories
