Scouting Report: Eugene Amano

Scouting Report: Eugene Amano

Name: Eugene Amano School: Southeast Missouri Year: 4Sr
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 325 40: 5.17 Pos: C

Bio: Three-year starter named to both the All-Conference and All-American teams as a senior. Started his career at guard as a red-shirt sophomore when he was a second team All-OVC pick, then made the transition to center as a junior. Has allowed no sacks in two seasons and reportedly runs the forty in under 5 seconds.

Pos: Big, tough bruiser in the middle of the line that works hard to destroy the opposition. Quick off the snap yet patient, does not overextend and plays with good pad level. Strong hands and good arm punch, keeps opponents away and also walls defenders from the action with good body positioning. Opens up the middle of the field and also displays some skill on the second level when blocking linebackers. Effective with the shotgun snap.

Neg: Not nimble or flexible and lacks adjustment. More of an arm wrestler than leverage blocker and lacks both lateral slide and range. Better in confined quarters blocking for the run and only an average pass protector.

Analysis: Amano displayed both progress and versatility in college as well as dominance. Must improve his overall flexibility, footwork and skills in pass protection to play at the next level, but looks like a solid practice squad prospect.
