Still suffering the lingering effects of a high ankle sprain which he suffered during his senior season, Rodney Leslie toughed it out for scouts today. Originally not expected to take part in the entire workout, scouts were impressed with the defensive tackles resiliency and willingness to do as they asked. Leslie measured in at 6032 and 300 pounds, then ran a pair of forties in 5.18 and 5.23 on the slow grass surface at UCLA. His all important 10-yard split times were fast at 1.82 and 1.80. The defensive tackle turned in a vertical jump of 28 inches, a broad jump of 8-5 and a solid 20-yard shuttle time of 4.69. Yesterday he pushed up the bar 31 times on the bench. Denver and Green Bay were high on the UCLA product as scouts in attendance applauded his intensity.
Teammate Ryan Boschetti fared better in the forty clocking a 5.15 and 5.18 but only completed 15 reps on the bench.
The Chargers were interested in the services of Dave Ball who measured in at 6051/275 and posted shuttle times of 4.62 and 4.56.
Secondary prospect Matt Ware looked strong at 6022 and 210-pounds then turned in a pair of vertical jumps of 38 and 39 inches. Ware clocked a 4.37/4.53 in the short shuttle, 11.05 in the 60-shuttle and timed 4.51/4.53 in his running of the forties.
Matt Chillar ran well posting 4.62 and 4.67.
