Stanford redshirt junior defensive tackle Amon Gordon has announced today that he will take the jump…
Scouting Report: Amon Gordon
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 295 40: 4.89 Pos: DT
Bio: Two year starter that spent time at both defensive end and defensive tackle. Finished his junior season with 33/7/2 after 22/4/7 the prior year.
Pos: Hard working athletic defender with minimal size and growth potential for the next level. Quickly gets off the ball, plays with good lean and displays a fluid change of direction. Immediately locates the action, chases to get involved and works hard. Moves well laterally to the flanks and offers skill dropping into pass coverage.
Neg: Lacks bulk, strength and wears down over the course of the game. Handled in one-on-one blocking situations.
Analysis: Gordon has the abilities and underlying skills to make it at the next level, though he would've been better off returning to Stanford for another season. Could be used in a two gap system at the next level or possibly be rotated in a conventional defense.
