Scouting Report: Marquis Cooper

Scouting Report: Marquis Cooper

Name: Marquis Cooper School Washington Year 4Sr
Ht: 6-3 Wt: 223 40: 4.58 Pos: OLB

Bio: Two year starter who led the team in tackles as a senior with 89/8.5/4e also collecting 2 interceptions and breaking up 5 passes. Junior tackling totals were 100/13/3. Has had surgery on both of his shoulders in the past.

Pos: Athletic linebacker with top instincts and a nose for the ball. Quick to key or diagnose the action, breaks down well and plays with leverage. Flows to the play, efficient and takes good angles. Displays a burst of speed moving towards the ball carrier. Can pedal in coverage, gets depth on drops and effectively defends the throw in zone.

Neg: Undersized for linebacker, handled at the point by tight ends and slow shedding blocks. Not a sudden or explosive defender.

Analysis: A defender with a nose for the ball, Cooper has been a productive collegiate player whose size is a limiting factor. Built more like a strong safety and must start making more plays in reverse l.
