Prospect Profile: Bryan Randall

Bryan Randall School: Virginia Tech
Ht: 6-0.5 Wt: 225 40: 4.78 Year: 4Sr

Bio: Three-year starter and All-Conference selection in ‘04 after career passing numbers of 55.6%/2,264/21/9.

Positives: Athletic passer who displayed signs of improvement as a senior. Patient in the pocket, poised under pressure and waits for receivers to come free. Possesses a quick release, live arm and zips the outs or powers the ball into receivers. Displays a sense of timing, immediately finds the open receiver in the short field and accurate on the roll. Does not force the throw and takes off up the field as a last resort. Elusive, displays the footwork to bounce it around piles or make opponents miss. Has a burst of speed.

Negatives: Best in the short-to-intermediate range passing game and inaccurate beyond the fifteen yard mark. Must learn touch. Does not sense the blitz. Does a bit of gathering before releasing the ball, does not throw tight spirals and has passes batted at the line of scrimmage.

Analysis: A fine athlete who displays adequate quarterbacking skills, Randall is a solid developmental prospect. He will be tried at quarterback, though a change of position is not out of the question.
