Scouting the Big 12: Baylor
Offense guard LeQualan McDonald is a king sized blocker with excellent strength at the point of
attack. Getting movement from run
blocks, he engulfs defenders or seals them from the action with good body
positioning. Not light on his feet,
McDonald lacks balance, awareness and at times seems to lose a sense of where he
is on the field. Needing a big
senior campaign, McDonald is a size prospect but must fight to find a spot in
the late rounds. Junior Dominique
Zeigler is a productive pass catcher who was the programs go-to receiver
last year. Sized well, he has
potential as a fourth wide out at the next level.
Senior defensive end
Montez Murphy is a talented prospect with minimal production.
A good edge rusher, Murphy possesses size as well as growth potential
yet needs to pull together a big senior year and meet the expectations of NFL
scouts. Baylor has a pair of
complimentary safeties, who must be gauged. Maurice Lane is a hard-hitting run defender who
quickly fills gaps up the field or takes good angles to the action.
Diagnosing plays, he shows ability in zone yet is best playing downhill.
Willie Andrews is an explosive defensive back who flies around the
football supporting the run and also displays ability in man-to-man coverage.
Undersized, he is a late round pick who could be used as a dime
back\special teams player at the next level.
Junior punter Daniel Sepulveda is one of the best in college
football and a definite prospect for the next level.
