Scouting the ACC: Wake Forest
Chris Barclay
is a slippery running back with the ability to bounce around piles or defenders
and the speed to get outside around tackle. Not picking up much shortage off
initial contact, Barclay potentially sits as a situational back in the NFL.
On
defense, sophomore linebacker Jonathan Abbate is an intelligent, intense
run stuffer with a great head for the game. Quickly diagnosing plays,
Abbate is terrific in the box and effectively defends the pass in zone
coverage. If there is one Wake Forest senior who gets selected next April
it could be punter Ryan Plackemeier. Possessing a solid leg, Plackemeier's
average hovers around 45-yards per punt three years running. A good
combine could push him into the late rounds.
