'06 NFL Draft Watch: Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan

The arrow is pointing up for Eastern Michigan. A team with a .500 record in the conference last season, EMU was just seven points the way from a winning season. The Eagles possess several solid mid-to-late round draft choices.

Scouting the MAC: Eastern Michigan

Academic questions surrounded the potential return of running back Anthony Sherrell, a compact ball carrier effective on the inside. Productive the past several years, Sherrell has a variety of skills and projects as a situational back in the NFL. Iowa transfer Matt Bohnet is a nice sized pocket passer who does an effective job running the spread offense. Possessing a solid deep arm, Bohnet is a potential late round choice next April. Center Mike Romeli is a quick lineman who gets movement from run blocks, opening up the middle of the field. Bending his knees and playing with leverage, Romeli lacks great upside for the next level. Junior Eric Deslauriers could well be the teams top NFL prospect. A nice sized pass catcher, Deslauriers displays outstanding focus, concentration and gets vertical to high point the ball, snatching it away from defenders. Lacking a second gear, he is not a threat to stretch defenses and must improve his overall body strength.

Defensively Rontrell Woodruff is a consistent safety with potential as a zone defensive back at the next level.
