Each week during the 2005 NFL season, Scout.com will name the Outstanding
Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Players are nominated by the
publishers and writers of Scout.com's NFL network, and are selected by the
network's NFL Experts.
Offensive Player of the Week: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning:
Threw four touchdown passes while notching his third career 100-plus
quarterback rating against Tennessee (144.1). Manning completed 20 of 27 passes
(74%), going 7-for-8 on third-down passes. He spread the ball around to six
different targets in a 31-10 victory at the Titans.
Defensive Player of the Week: Denver Broncos linebacker Al Wilson
Playing behind a revamped defensive line, Wilson has been a disruptive force
in the middle of the Broncos quick and aggressive defense. The improved
quickness and defensive line blocking schemes utilized by the Denver defense is
permitting Wilson to play to his strengths, which could make him one of the
better linebackers in the league.
