QUARTERBACKS
If you won your fantasy football game this past weekend, it most likely
wasn't due to your quarterback production. Colts' QB Peyton Manning and
New England quarterback Tom Brady have the top two spots on our list and
ended up with six passing TDs between them on Monday Night Football. The
Colts made it a perfect 8-0 as Manning led the win over the New England Patriots. Cincinnati's Carson Palmer
had a nice performance against the Ravens with two TDs and 248 yards.
Kurt Warner returned to the Arizona line-up to put up huge yardage against
the Seahawks, but was intercepted three times. Byron Leftwich threw for
one score and ran for another to lead the Jaguars over the Texans with
14 points in the 4th quarter. The Eagles and Donovan McNabb lost Terrell Owens to a suspension and lost their game to the Washington Redskins...despite
McNabb's 300+ yards passing.

RUNNING BACKS
The top two players in fantasy football again finish one-two in running
back rankings for the week. LaDainian Tomlinson (the best player in FF)
rushed for three TDs and caught another score for the Chargers. Shaun Alexander put a scare in his fantasy owners when he left the game with
stomach cramps, but returned to finish with 173 rushing yards and two
touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs' Larry Johnson filled
in nicely with 155 total yards and two scores. Off-field driving problems
weren't enough to distract Reuben Droughns...he finished the game with
189 total yards, but was held out of the endzone. Edgerrin James, Rudi Johnson, Warrick Dunn, and Michael Bennett all had total yards of just
over 110+ with a TD apiece. Stephen Davis continued to be the Panthers'
TD machine as he went for two against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to hand
them their 3rd loss. Chris Brown and Johnathan Wells both collected over
100 yards and a score. Duce Staley made his first appearance of the year
for the Steelers, and it was enough to make our list with 85 yards and
a TD. Giant short yardage running back Brandon Jacobs had a yards per
carry average of 0.6, but his two touchdowns made his fantasy owners very
happy. LaMont Jordan, Antowain Smith, and Tiki Barber all had yardage
totals over 100, but none were able to make it across the goal line.

WIDE RECEIVERS
When NFL quarterbacks don't have impressive fantasy stats for a given
week, it usually means that wide receivers usually suffer the same fate.
Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Steve Smith were the only NFL wide
receivers in week nine to have over 100 receiving yards...and only Harrison
caught more than one TD pass. Reggie Brown stood in for suspended Terrell
Owens and managed to catch the Eagles' only score. Brian Finneran caught
one in the endzone from Michael Vick. Ernest Wilford added to last week's
140+ yard performance with 89 yards and a TD this week. Joey Galloway
again impressed in Tampa Bay with a score. Dennis Northcutt and Corey Bradford had touchdowns for the Browns and Texans.

TIGHT ENDS
In previous years, the tight end position has been inconsistent and relatively
undependable for fantasy owners. But 2005 has seen most of the same players
repeat on our list. Jeremy Shockey continued to be a favorite target of
Eli Manning with a sensational grab and roll into the endzone for the
Giants in a victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Erron Kinney caught
one his five receptions for a score against the Browns. Antonio Gates
(best tight end in football) caught eight balls for 132 yards, but was
kept between the goal lines. Marcus Pollard caught another touchdown for
the Lions, but it wasn't enough in Minnesota. Daniel Graham was on the
receiving end of one of Tom Brady's three TDs in the loss against the
Colts. Chris Cooley and Alge Crumpler continue to be keys to their respecive
passing games, but neither had a score in week nine.

News and Notes - The Indianapolis Colts
were able to break a six game losing streak to the New England Patriots
and increased a streak of their own - the Colts are undefeated at 8-0...Terrell
Owens and his poor judgement earned him an indefinite suspension by the
Philadelphia Eagles...Doug Flutie (oldest active NFL player and backup
QB to Tom Brady) appeared in the final minute of MNF and went 3-7 for
20 yards...David Akers returned to kick for the Eagles in week nine...Neil Rackers kicked four field goals for the Cardinals on Sunday to lead all
kickers with a perfect 26 of 26 for the season (next closest is 17 FGs)...Thomas Jones left Sunday's game against the Saints and may miss week 10 with
continued rib pain (giving Cedric Benson his first start of the season)
