Senior Bowl: Thursday Morning Buzz

Though most of the scouts have left Mobile, there is still plenty of buzz around the Senior Bowl. Injuries are starting to mount, including potentially a major one to a big-name prospect. And the New York Jets may have trouble finding an offensive coordinator.

Terry Bradway was speaking with a coach from Hofstra yesterday.  While the Jets practice at the university, the meeting may be a little more then coincidental.  Hofstra has one of the hottest offensive guards in the draft, Willie Colon, a position of need for New York.

The Jets may need to go to option four in their search for an  offensive coordinator.  Now that they lost out on hiring Steve Fairchild as their offensive coordinator, (Fairchild took the Buffalo Bills job) the New York Jets may look toward hiring Chris Palmer to fill the void. However, it's possible, very possible, Palmer declines the job if it is offered. Why? Palmer is not happy the team hasn't contacted him since last Friday and many team observers note that Fairchild was clearly their first option.

Believe it or not, former Ohio St. and Denver Broncos running back Maurice Clarrett's agents said this week that they have no plans to drop their client despite all of his off-the-field issues.

Yesterday Mathias Kiwanuka left the field after going down with an injury.  Kiwi was thrown to the ground by his Boston College teammate Jeremy Trueblood  during one-on-one blocking drills and it was obvious from the start he was injured.  While he did come back and finish the session, he was held out today.  Now comes word that Kiwinuka will undergo X-rays to determine if there is possible ligament damage to his shoulder.  If the X-rays are negative, Kiwinuka will play on Saturday; otherwise he will not.

Scouts we spoke with all agree that Auburn wide receiver Anthony Mix projects to tight end in the NFL.  They have also referred to Parys Haralson as a "different kind of animal" because of his terrific play.
